Become a member of Nevada EcoNet and support our efforts to increase environmental awareness!

What a year! In defiance of a difficult economy, our community turned out in record numbers to support an amazing Earth Day celebration in April. We estimate that 9,000 individuals and families attended this free event-many times more than when we began this festival more than 20 years ago. Earth Day is an important event to raise environmental awareness in our community and to showcase local businesses and nonprofits who are involved in our shift to a green economy. Work on Earth Day 2011 is already underway.

Your support will make Earth Day 2011 even more exciting. Earth Day requires an enormous amount of work and upfront expenses that begin in December. Your contribution now will provide necessary seed money for rental deposits, outreach to vendors, and permit fees. We can also use volunteers early on to help us with the many preparations for this event.

Information Year-round. While Earth Day is Nevada EcoNet’s signature event, it is not our only project. Nevada Econet’s mission is to bring environmental awareness to the Truckee Meadows by promoting and organizing events and acting as the information center for environmentally sustainable resources and activity. With the support of community individuals and business like you, EcoNet provides year-round service to our community.

Most of you now Nevada EcoNet. We organize that huge bash once a year in Reno called Earth Day. But Earth Day is every day and we are here for you the other 364 days of the year. Nevada EcoNet is a network helping environmentally minded people find each other. By connecting non-profits to businesses, businesses to the community and the community to the government agencies, we are working to make sharing resources and information as simple as possible.

Some information about Nevada EcoNet:

Nevada Econet has been a member of the Northern Nevada community for the past twenty one years.

Our organizations is dedicated to improving our community by being a center for environmental education and information.

Nevada EcoNet was organized in 1990 by a group of local citizens to organize the first Reno Earth Day Celebration. The Annual Earth Day Celebration brings the regional community together in one place to showcase the organizations, non-profits and government agencies working towards the goal of sustainable communities for the public.

Additionally Nevada EcoNet brings sustainability information to the community through a variety of other events, publications, and partnerships.
